Petr Ilich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893)
Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky was born in Votkinsk, he was the first Russian composer to establish a reputation with Western audiences. His strong sense of melody, personal expression and brilliant orchestration are clear throughout his lare output; this includes 6 symphonies, 3 piano concertos, a violin concerto, symphonic poems, the ballets Swan Lake 1877, The Sleeping Beauty 1890, and Nutcracker 1892, and the opera Eugene Onegin 1879.
